Ivan Anjien Bakus Sdique-Sillah's Short Bio
I have an extensive national and international experience in research assessment, gender issues and development. In addition to my protection and developmental skills, I have excellent logistical and administrative skills to ensure a result-bases management.
I have conducted research in the Republic of Sierra Leone with specific reference to Livelihood in the Western Rural District, The Gambia, Republic of India in the Ultra Pradesh region, Republic of Guinea in the Conakry region, Republic of Kenya in the Nakuru region and London in Micro-finance, Impact of Social Network on Migration and Agricultural Development, Gender and HIV/Aids, civil society and Youth Development. During these years, I have worked to identify and address issues related to Rural Economic development, Small-scale Loans and Safety net for the marginalised and deprived People.
In addition I have the ability to work with and strengthen the capacity of other actors such as civil society organisations, local and national government in a Right-Based approach to better promote the understanding and mainstreaming of Gender issues, policy Frame work, strategies and accountability mechanism ensuring good and sound developmental policies
within an organisation and societies. My research undertakings and experience in development and advocacy work enables me to integrate Human-Right holistically ensuring the protection and empowerment of marginalised people.
My experience acquired in my humanitarian work enable me to manage, coordinate, and provide advice on Gender responsive policies that ensure effective economic policy and developmental project, hence ensuring poverty reduction. My innovative and analytical skills serve not only as an added value to conducting good awareness and sensitisation campaigns but also documenting and generating information /statistics desegregated by Gender.
I am a very committed craftsman with a good work ethic and friendly personality and can communicate well with a wider variety of people in any multicultural environment with a non-judgemental attitude. I have good listening skills with a positive commitment to Equal Opportunity in service delivery and someone who is open to correction and suggestion in any line of duty.
I do have the desirable qualification in both Development Studies at MSc level and BA (Hons) in Development Geography and a hug experience of working with civil society groups, experience in a field-based management position for a complex, multi-sectorial, international development donor programme, which has always enable me to participate in a meaningful manner with other agencies, community groups, government and other organisations.
I have worked and managed companies like, First Class Creative Solution UK/EU Limited and Life Changing Solutions Limited as a Managing Director for a period of three year. During my tenure with both organisation, I am well able to control and manage sensitive programmes of similar magnitude and complexity such as identification of beneficiaries both for the aid distribution and livelihood components, allocation of funding, budgeting, designing, implementation and monitoring of the project in a more professional manner.
I have a proven success in understanding of formal and professional requirement of institutional donor agencies, excellent interpersonal skills with proficiency in English and a sound demonstrative ability to lead, wherein I have worked towards a community involvement and mobilisation of local community resources. I also have a proven experience in mentoring and strengthening technical skills of staffs, ability to promote and collaborate closely with multi-level stakeholders and have a strong attention to details and a highly organised approach to work.
The wider experience I have gained working in various capacities in the organisation I have worked for, backed by my educational background will help tremendously in achieving a smooth and accurate running of the organisation I am presently serving. During my years of employment, I have proven to be dedicated, honest, trustworthy, and very reliable in service delivery and have a calm approach in conflict situation, which has helped me solve problem at work and get on well with my working colleagues and superiors.
In addition, I have a very good knowledge and experience in IT applications and packages (MS words, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, emailing and several research methods such as SPSS, aenstat, MindManager, NVivo11 for Windows
and well equipped with the ability to juggle responsibilities and prioritised workload.
Above-all, I am an independent, investigative-minded person who is well capable of working under pressure and can work both as an individual and as part of a team and meet targets in a professional and time manner.
